The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. - James A. Michener

Table Escapes - Fields of Gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley

You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

So she took her love
For to gaze a while
Upon the fields of barley

In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me,
Will you be my love
Among the fields of barley

We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley

Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken

But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in the fields of gold
We'll walk in the fields of gold

Many years have passed
Since those summer days
Among the fields of barley

See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley

You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

I am your newest follower, I had to, you are another Utah girl. I recognized Tai Pan right away. I feel sorry for people who don't have access to Tai Pan. Love the Horchow centerpiece. The poem was just a treat going along with your beautiful pictures.

Your table is so pretty! i love the dishes you combined with the beautiful napkins and napkin rings! Was the centerpiece intended for food or candles? It is quite striking! And the lyrics just add to the beauty! Linda

The centerpiece doesn't serve a purpose....just eye candy...if I used candles, the glass on the top would get too hot.

James Michener is (was) my favorite author. It was delightful to see a quote by him at the top of your blog. What a beautiful table! I love that song, especially Eva Cassidy's version. I can tell by looking at those beautiful dishes, that I wish I had a Tai-pan Trading here. That table runner is gorgeous. Each detail is lovely.

This is opulence done in the most welcoming way! I am enthralled with the wonderful way you mix color and pattern. Everything is so understated, but it grabs and holds my attention with a fabulous mix of pattern.

Very, very pretty on all counts! I also love blue & white and anything toile!!! The antler flatware was particularly interesting. I've not gotten up the nerve as yet to shop Ebay, even though I know there are many bargains there to be found. Maybe someday! Good job!
